Litauisches Kino Goes Berlin would like to invite you to the traditional Summer Edition under the Berlin stars in Freiluftkino Insel im Cassiopeia. This time we screen the newest film by award-winning director Audrius Juzėnas Owl Mountain, ahistorical drama with a fresh approach and one of the most watched films in Lithuania in 2018. The film will be screened on July 18th at 21:30 and followed by the Q&A with the film director. The screening will take place at an open-air cinema – Freiluftkino Insel im Cassiopeia, Revalerstr. 99, 10245 Berlin.

A coming-of-age drama and a fast-paced action film tells a story of a group of friends who live, love and struggle in the backdrop of post-war madness. The central figure in the group is the charismatic Šmelingas who soon becomes a legend among his peers. To girls, he is a John-Wayne-type hero; to guys, an intimidating competitor in matters of love. Taking place in the period of 1947 – 1953, Owl Mountain offers a fresh approach to the events which happened in Lithuania at the time, becoming one of the most watched film in 2018.
The renowned director, screenwriter and producer Audrius Juzėnas has been exploring the period of WW2 in this last films too: Getas/The Ghetto, Ekskursantė/The Excursionist – all offering an original and tender perspective. His former film The Excursionist received a National Film Award Silver Crane for Best Film, Best Script, Best Camera and Best Actress. Owl Mountain won a Silver Medal for Best Original Score at the Global Music Awards 2018.
At the end of the screening Q&A with the filmmaker will be held.
