AŠ UŽ TAVE PAKALBĖSIU / WHEN WE TALK ABOUT KGB
Directors: Virginija Vareikytė, Maximilien Dejoie, 73 Min, 2015, Lithuania & Italy

The headquarters and the prison of Lithuanian KGB – Committee for State Security of the SSRS – stand in the central avenue of Vilnius as a memento of the events and tensions that occurred in Lithuania in everyday life during the Soviet Regime. A documentary created over a period of three years evolves around that building as well as the well-structured apparatus of surveillance which it served for. The film follows the stories of seven people who took different stands and therefore became either victims or servants of the Regime. At the end they all just made the choices that they believed were right or best…

When We Talk About KGB is a deeply involving and though-provoking documentary, which remains free from self-righteousness or rectifying conclusions.

The film mastered by a director duo: Lithuanian Virginija Vareikytė and Italian Maximilien Dejoie, started its festival-life a year ago in Vilnius during “Inconvenient Films” Human Rights Film Festival, had been screened in numerous festivals around the world: Nordische Filmtage Lübeck in Germany, Document Human Rights Festival in Scotland, Docs MX in Mexico, AegeanDocs in Greece, Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in USA, Salaya International Film Festival in Thailand, Norwegian Documentary Film Festival “Dokfilm”, Piemonte Movie Festival and Trieste International Film Festival in Italy, etc.
